Why I Created The Grief Greenhouse
My journey into grief work began long before I became a therapist. As a teenager, I experienced the devastating loss of my father to lung cancer—a loss that forever changed the way I understood love, pain, and healing. Years later, my personal experiences with grief, combined with my work as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®, revealed something I now know to be true: while grief is a universal experience, no one should have to navigate it alone.
For years, I would tell people, "I don't have a green thumb." Then, in the fall of 2025, I decided to challenge that belief. Instead of assuming I wasn't good at caring for plants (I kept snake plants alive, but that’s not saying much. lol), I began learning. I listened to people who knew more than I did. I followed instructions. I paid attention. I was patient. And slowly, something unexpected happened—my plants began to thrive.
As I watched new leaves emerge and tiny seedlings push through the soil, I realized caring for plants isn't all that different from caring for ourselves. Growth can't be forced. It takes time, intention, nourishment, and the right environment. There are seasons of dormancy, pruning, setbacks, and beautiful new beginnings. Healing from grief is much the same.
That's why I created The Grief Greenhouse.
A greenhouse doesn't make plants grow. It simply creates the conditions where growth becomes possible. My hope is to provide that same kind of space for people who are grieving—a place where they feel seen, supported, and gently encouraged as they move through life's losses. Not by rushing grief or trying to "move on," but by honoring what has been lost while making room for hope, connection, and new growth.
Whether you're grieving the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a change in health, a life transition, or another significant loss, you are welcome here. It is an honor to walk alongside people during some of the hardest seasons of their lives.
My hope is that everyone who enters The Grief Greenhouse leaves knowing this:
Grief changes us, but it doesn't have to define us. We can't change what has been lost, but together we can create the conditions where healing begins.
