The Grief Greenhouse

Where hope and connection are cultivated

Why I Created The Grief Greenhouse

One of the greatest lessons grief has taught me is that joy and sorrow can exist together.

Grief is heavy. It changes us. It can leave us wondering if we'll ever laugh freely, feel hopeful again, or recognize ourselves in the mirror. But I've learned that healing isn't about leaving grief behind—it's about learning to carry it while making room for moments of joy, connection, beauty, and purpose along the way.

My journey into grief work began long before I became a therapist. As a teenager, I experienced the devastating loss of my father to lung cancer—a loss that forever changed the way I understood love, pain, and healing. Years later, my personal experiences, combined with my work as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®, revealed something I now know to be true: while grief is a universal experience, no one should have to navigate it alone.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of walking alongside hundreds of people as they navigated their own experiences of grief and loss. Again and again, I witnessed something remarkable: healing cannot be rushed, but when people are given the right support, they begin to grow in ways they never imagined possible.

In the fall of 2025, life taught me that lesson in an entirely unexpected way.

For years, I had confidently told people, "I don't have a green thumb." (To be fair, I managed to keep a few snake plants alive—but that hardly counts! If you know, you know! lol.) One day I decided to stop believing that story. Instead of assuming I wasn't good at caring for plants, I became curious. I started learning from people who knew more than I did. I followed their guidance, paid attention, practiced patience, and gave my plants the care they needed.

Slowly, something beautiful happened.

My plants began to thrive.

As I watched tiny seedlings push through the soil and new leaves unfurl, I realized that caring for plants isn't all that different from caring for ourselves. Growth can't be rushed or forced. It requires time, nourishment, patience, and the right environment. There are seasons of dormancy, pruning, setbacks, and incredible beauty.

Healing from grief is much the same.

That's when the vision for The Grief Greenhouse came to life.

A greenhouse doesn't make plants grow. It simply creates the conditions where growth becomes possible. I realized that was exactly what I had been trying to create for my clients all along—a place where grief is welcomed, stories are honored, and healing is gently nurtured. Not by asking people to "move on," but by helping them honor what has been lost while making room for hope, connection, and new growth.

Whether you're grieving the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a change in health, or another significant life transition, you are welcome here.

It is an honor to walk alongside people during some of life's hardest seasons. My greatest hope is that when you leave The Grief Greenhouse, you don't leave your love behind—you simply discover that it's possible to carry your grief and still laugh, still grow, still have peace, and still experience joy.

We can't change what has been lost, but together we can create the conditions where healing begins.
